The corridor between Hyderabad and Vijayawada (NH-65) is undergoing a massive transformation into a high-speed economic artery. Key developments are focused on converting the existing 4-lane highway into a 6-to-8-lane expressway, integrated with new metro lines and logistics hubs.

1. Highway Expansion (NH-65)

The central government has officially approved the widening of the 229 km stretch of NH-65.

  • Scale: The highway is being upgraded from 4 lanes to a 6-to-8-lane access-controlled expressway.

  • Timeline: Tendering is finalized, and major construction works are scheduled to commence in February 2026.

  • Speed & Safety: The goal is to reduce travel time between Hyderabad and Vijayawada to just 2 to 2.5 hours. The project includes identifying and fixing 17 "black spots" by constructing new flyovers and underpasses to make it an accident-free corridor.

2. Regional Ring Road (RRR) Intersection

The 340 km Regional Ring Road will be a game-changer for this highway, particularly around Choutuppal.
